Department of Pharmacology envisions to be a centre of excellence and a leader in medical education, innovative research, evidence based clinical careand policy making related to medicine in India

Mission

  • To combining high quality teaching with internationally recognized research.
  • To provide a platform for teaching, research and training to produce the best of medical manpower for the country
  • To develop a dynamic interface with pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical medical disciplinesteaching pharmacology in an integrated curriculum.
  • To participate in patient care through implementation of laboratory, clinical and regulatory services.
  • To recognise the research gaps of public health importance in the field of pharmacology and address them through a sound scientific process.
  • To identify and nurture quality human resources in pharmacology
  • To inculcate a process of rational thinking and scientific temper in an individual so that he/she shall be competent,as a physician, to prescribe drugs to patients effectively and safely.
  • To train the budding doctors to be life-long learners of rational therapeutics by promoting self-directed learning.

Undergraduate1.5 year100Undergraduate (Medical) Department is engaged in teaching 100 MBBS students each year for 1.5 year duration, as per prescribed curriculum. Regular monthly assessments examinations are conducted as per schedule. At the end of course final examination is conducted.

Future Plans for Department:

Department envisages following developments.

  • Academics and teaching:
    • Implementation of Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) modules across MD and DM courses.
    • Strengthening skill development laboratories for MD and DM students.
  • Clinical Services:
    • Upgradation of Analytical Lab for providing Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) services.
    • Establishment of pharmaceutical Quality Control Laboratory.
    • Establishment of Drug Information Centre.
    • Strengthening Antibiotic Stewardship program of institute.
  • Research:
    • Expansion of current Laboratory Animal Facility to a State of art Centre.
    • Establishment of Clinical Research/ Trial Unit.
