Dotted with tennis, badminton, basketball, and volleyball courts near the residential and hostel areas, allow students and staff to participate actively in sports. This is besides the availability of indoor games at hostels and a common well-equipped gym. Annual sports competition is a serious event here and the level of play will astonish anyone.
Social events such as the annual students’ fest, Pyrexia is no less than an extravagant mix of talent and showmanship, participated by students from various colleges of India. Equally enthusiastically students as well as staff and faculty participate in various awareness walks or “run for unity” on the picturesque Asthapath. Programs on classical Indian art are organized through SPIC MACAY from time to time.
Students cultivate curiosity by engaging in a variety of extra-curricular activities with the help of different clubs to explore their passion and build a community of fellow enthusiasts. On weekends one can visit nearby Dehradun or Haridwar by availing free bus services of the Institute to catch up with a movie or for shopping.
The campus is culturally diverse, and students come from all parts of India, which by itself is an enriching experience. Economically weaker students are supported by the Central Library by long term lending of books, besides other facilities.
Training and working as doctors are not without its stresses. Students are supported by a Youth Center to cater to counseling services.
All such activities are encouraged and aided by a separate Dean of Students Welfare. Overall student life at AIIMS Rishikesh is a rich blend of social, cultural, and recreational opportunities.
