Vision statement: To develop a state of the art, internationally acclaimed department of internal medicine.

Mission statement: The Department of Medicine all Indian institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh has been a pioneer Department add this Institute of national importance since inception. The Department was established in 2013 and they started functioning its clinical services in 2014. This Department has been the cornerstone of clinical services in internal medicine and all allied sub specialities and remain the main source for deciphering services in the field of Cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, nephrology and other medical sub-specialties till they started functioning as independent Department. The Department has been ranked as one of the best department at AIIMS Rishikesh, the Department is structurally functioning as a single unit with multiple specialty clinics attached to individual faculty member. Various clinical services being delivered through its special clinics are diabetes, geriatrics, rheumatology, lifestyle diseases and infectious diseases. Department is having dietetics Attached to it both in OPD and IPD for dietary counseling and nutritional care of patients. Department is running general medicine OPD in the morning hours. The specialty clinics are being run in the afternoon. Between 2:00 to 4:00 PM the frequency of these clinics are wearing from weekly business to almost five days a week. The Department is envisioned to achieve few centers of excellence in various domains of clinical, research and academic.

Services Available in the department:

  • Outpatients department: Total No. of patients consulted from 01.04.2017 to 31.03.2018-79,823 OPD services are being provided to patients on weekdays from 9:00 am and finished when all patients are seen. Patients with all communicable and non-communicable diseases are seen here. Minor procedures like giving intra-articular injections given in OPD under all sterile conditions.
