The department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology is locatedat the 4thfloor of the Academic Block of the institute.The department is engaged in teaching medical students by providing hands-on experience and modern teaching modalities. It is well equipped with models, specimens and charts to provide best learning experience to students and enhance their creativity. Apart from this, the department provides a favorable environment for scientific research. The department dedicated caters medico legal services for the community.

  • To gain excellence and integrity in Forensic Medicine by balancing the emphasis on teaching, research and medico legal services.
  • To develop a model center of excellence in the field of forensic pathology and allied branches of forensic science

Mission

  • To produce the competent physician capable of providing medical-legal service without infringing medical ethics and principles.

  • Undergraduate (Medical) Department is engaged in teaching 100 MBBS students each year for 1.5-year duration, as per prescribed curriculum. Regular monthly assessments examinations are conducted as per schedule. At the end of course final examination is conducted as per rules Objectives
  • To impart knowledge about medicolegal duties of doctor in clinical practice and about conducting post mortems of commonly encountered cases.
  • Medicolegal duties and general aspects of management of poisoning cases.
  • Teaching medical ethics to undergraduate students.

  • Currently, 4 postgraduates are undergoing training for degree of MD in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology.
  • To impart knowledge about medicolegal duties of doctor in clinical practice.
