In addition to the teaching, training, service-delivery and research, AIIMS Rishikesh recognizes its responsibility towards the society. One of the mandates of AIIMS Rishikesh is to help and serve the poorest of the poor. AIIMS Rishikesh is dedicated towards the special population of the society e.g., elderly, military-personnel and people with different abilities who deserve special attention and assistance. Foreign nationals who travel to this part of the world may also in need of distinct services.
To smoothen and simplify the administrative process, AIIMS Rishikesh has established a dedicated registration facility. There are numerous Help desks all over the hospital area to facilitate this process, with special desks for those admitted under Ayushman Bharat Yojna, below poverty line (BPL), females, Senior citizens, divyangjans and international Patients.
Because of hilly terrain, many patients are not able to reach downhills and avail the medical facility. Though the State Government has developed medical facilities in farthest of the areas, AIIMS Rishikesh tries to contribute too by organizing medical camps throughout the year by providing specialists care at their doorsteps. To expedite delivery of healthcare services to the patients, institute has started tele-medicine services and air-ambulance facility. Through tele-medicine, medical professionals from the farthest of areas may seek specialists’ opinions for the benefit of the patients. Similarly, air-ambulance facility has been developed with the help of State Government.
Although management of medical disorders is very important, the preventive and promotive aspects play a vital role in development of an illness. Institute is indulged in public awareness activities to meet this goal. Public lectures, educational public plays, exhibitions displaying informative and educational material for the public are organized from time to time. To add more, with the help of local bodies and social clubs varied kinds of awareness programs are also organized round the year.
Families of patients admitted in the hospital require a decent and comfortable place to stay and many of them cannot even afford the food. With the help of a few charitable groups, the institute has managed to provide food to most of the attendants. Collaborations have been done with another philanthropic group to enhance the residential facilities for the attendants and to initiate new services for the patients.
