Examination Section is a vital part of the All IndiaInstitute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, a premier autonomous institution established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna. Located on the banks of the Ganges in Rishikesh, the institute is committed to providing highest quality medical Education, excellent healthcare and advancing medical research. Examination Section plays a critical role in supporting this mission by overseeing all academic Evaluation activities within the institute.

Under the guidance of Dean (Examination) and patronage of the Executive Director, Exam-Section is responsible for conducting a wide range of examinations. These include professional/final examinations for courses from undergraduate level (viz. MBBS, B.Sc. Nursing, and B.Sc. AHS) to post-graduate and super-specialty courses (viz. MD/MS/MDS, M.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc.Medical, MPH, PG Diploma, DM/M.Ch and PDCC/PDF). Additionally, the Section
Beyond academic assessments, Exam-Section also administers various entrance and recruitment examinations for the institute, including those for M.Sc. entrance exams, Ph.D. entrance exams, PDCC/PDF entrance exams, and Senior Resident recruitment exams. etc. The section’s mission is to formulate standard operating procedures for various examinations, conduct and analyse them in a fair and unbiased manner, and keep all relevant records.
Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities of the Examination Section:
The Examination Section performs a wide array of functions to ensure the integrity and smooth operation of the institute’s evaluation processes. These include:
Conducting Examinations
Organizing and conducting all final/professional examinations of various courses throughout the year in a fair and transparent manner.
Arranging and holding entrance examinations for academic courses biannually.
Administering various entrance/recruitment examinations for the institute.
Evaluation and Results Management
Evaluating answer sheets and preparing results.
Compilation and declaration of results in consultation with the Competent Authority.
Printing and issuing mark-sheets, certificates, and other documents related to the academic performance of students.
Guiding the assessment process for various examinations based on recent global trends

Record Keeping and Confidentiality
Keeping confidential records of each examination.
Maintaining all records pertaining to examinations.
Developmental Activities:
Preparing question banks for academic examinations of various UG, PG Super speciality courses and Entrance/Recruitment examinations for future use.
Conducting training for all faculty on assessment methods for various exams to support faculty development.
Developing a Manual of Assessment at AIIMS, Rishikesh.
Compiling a systematic question bank for MBBS and B.Sc. (Nursing) courses with coding for easy retrieval.
Keeping backups of all question papers and question banks in hard disk and cloud storage.
Training all staff on handling Excel, Google Drive, and other digital tools.
Developing an automated portal for receiving questions from external and internal examiners.
Streamlining all internal processes involved in conducting an exam, including preliminary checking of question papers, preparing checklists, and revising OMR sheets.
