Expansion planned for the future:

Clinical Services

  • To establish a 40-bedded state-of-the-art tertiary care neonatal referral center in AIIMS Rishikesh with surgical, cardiac, cardio-thoracic and neurosurgical facilities under one roof
  • Establishment of neonatal sub-speciality clinics
  • Establishment of human milk bank
  • Starting neonatal ECMO services
  • To start outreach, emergency and transport in/out services for neonates living in hilly terrain
  • Regular mentoring visits and hand-holding of SNCUs of Uttarakhand
  • Establishment of tele-conference facility with peripheral centers catering neonatal services

Academics and teaching

  • We have already started modular teaching and training for undergraduate (MBBS), Pediatric (MD Pediatrics) and Neonatal (DM Neonatology) trainees as well as nursing students and staffs
  • Establishment of certificate courses for neonatal nursing
  • Regular training of Medical Officers and Neonatal Nurses across the State and conduct observership courses for trained Medical Officers and Neonatal Nurses in AIIMS Rishikesh for a period of 2 weeks
  • To develop an international collaborative center for neonatal training including faculty and resident exchange program

Research

  • Establishment of a database of newborn morbidity and mortality in the State
  • To develop national and international collaboration for clinical trials
  • Getting research grants for neonatal projects
  • Research publications in high impact factor journals
