Vision

To establish a center of excellence in Gastroenterology & Hepatology in Uttarakhand& adjoining states, for evidence-based, state-of-art, individualized care for all gastrointestinal and liver diseases in adult patients, plus a nodal center for advanced teaching, training & research in Gastroenterology &Hepatology . The Department of AIIMS Rishikesh was started by Dr. Rohit Gupta in December 2017.

Mission

To provide comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, highest quality tertiary care to Gastroenterology &Hepatology patients attending AIIMS Rishikesh from the state of Uttarakhand& other parts of India. This encompasses patient-oriented curative, palliative, preventive & supportive care services at the lowest possible costs, for the benefit of patients across entire socioeconomic spectrum.
To conduct high-quality scientific research in Gastroenterology &Hepatologyin collaboration with national & international centers of excellence, with special emphasis on developing novel diagnostic tests, prognostic markers & treatment protocols which are adapted to & affordable in the Indian context.
Training of healthcare professionals in the super-specialty of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, for dissemination of knowledge & expertise. The department is currently running the D.M. Gastroenterology post-doctoral course since July 2018. The departmental Board of Studies includes experts from renowned national & international institutions.
To conduct good quality clinical trials in Gastroenterology & Hepatologyin accordance with GCP guidelines.
