a) Student Educational activities: The Biochemistry department is striving hard to provide highest standards of medical education and research activities to healthcare leaders of tomorrow. Interactive lectures, Tutorials and Seminars are being conducted as per teaching schedule to promote their inquisitiveness. The students have shown a great interest in seminars and have proved their mettle. The examinations get conducted well within the specified time frame. Till date five to six students in each batch gave exceptional good results with distinction marks in Biochemistry. The overall performance of the department is recorded in the feedback form by students with their ideas regarding the study pattern to be discussed and incorporated later in the coming batch curriculum.

b) O P D Diagnostic Services: The department of Biochemistry has functional Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory which is providing the diagnostic amenities for patients, since the inception of OPD services. Department is equipped with Fully Automated Analyzers for Clinical Chemistry investigations and Chemiluminescence Immuno Assay for Hormones, Vitamins and Drug Analysis. Specialized investigations like CK-MB, CPK- NAC, Lipase, hs CRP, LDH, Vitamin B12, Thyroid profile, extended Diabetes profile, Hormonal profile for fertility makers, Tumor markers, Bone markers, Cardiac markers and Anemia markers are routinely carried with quality reporting system.

c) I P D Diagnostic Services: The department of Biochemistry has been providing diagnostic amenities since the inception IPD services. The diagnostic facilities are extended to round the clock.

d) Quality Control: To attain quality service of reported laboratory investigations, we have enrolled in External Quality Assessment Scheme (EQAS), run by the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Christian Medical College, Vellore. In addition to routine chemistry analytes tested using an EQAS scheme, the quality control is extended with HbA1c, Reproductive and Thyroid hormone profile. The results for all EQAS enrolled biochemical investigations reported monthly are certified within the reference levels.

e) Departmental Research Projects: The Biochemistry faculty members are workingon17Ongoing Research projects as Principal investigators or Co-investigators in collaboration with other departments. The retrospective analysis of biochemical investigation data, looking at prevalent diseases and its biochemical implications in OPD/IPD patients treated in AIIMS, Rishikesh is being carried out. Many new areas of research beneficial to the public and pertinent to the geographical locale of AIIMS, Rishikesh are in pipe line, enhancing our contribution to the society. Students are encouraged to have research exposure in STS projects. Every year students are participating and completing the STS based
